The main Devil's Punchbowl trail is open for walking and snowshoeing, and there is one tree you have to crawl under on the Riverbend trail, otherwise that is clear. We will be removing that tree shortly, and checking the upper Maple Woods trail too. You have to park on the highway, so be careful there, and also there are snowmobiles using the lower part of the road to the trail system, so keep dogs on a leash there, and stay aware. ... It’s that time of year again where road salt is being widely used across the Island. Although road salt does a wonderful job of preventing accidents on the roads, and slips and falls around the home, it can also have adverse impacts on the environment. TREC and The Wheatley River Improvement Group would like to raise awareness of the impacts of road salt on Prince Edward Island watersheds, in hopes of spurring meaningful change, and a shift in de-icing practices. If you would like to learn more about this topic please read our detailed article on “The Impact of Road Salt on Watersheds”, which you can find on our websites at troutriverec.ca under resources and wheatleyriver.ca under plans and reports.or by clicking this link:troutriverec.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/The-Impact-of-Road-Salt-on-Watersheds.pdf ...
