TREC 4th Annual Tree Drive

TREC is holding our 4th Annual Tree Drive, Friday, July 21st from 4pm-7pm! The Tree Drive will be located at our office, 575 Taylor Road North Granville.

This will be an opportunity for current members to renew their membership, or for new members to sign up. Come and meet the TREC crew and take home native trees and shrubs to improve your property by providing habitat for wildlife, shade and wind cover.

If you are unable to attend but would like to donate to TREC, renew or purchase a new membership, please visit https://troutriverec.ca/membership/ for online options.

We look forward to seeing you all there, July 21st from 4-7pm!

TREC Community Garden

The TREC Community Garden announced this winter is up and growing! The TREC Community Garden is located at our office/the North Granville Community Centre, 575 Taylor Road, North Granville, on the right side of the building.

If you visit in the next week you will also notice 2 rain barrels purchased from Bedeque Bay Environmental Management Association which will be installed at the front of the building in order capture storm water runoff and water our garden.

Planted this year we have: two varieties of tomatoes, yellow beans, salad greens, basil, zucchini, and eggplant. This garden is free and open for the community to use, feel free to come by anytime with a box or bag and harvest what you would like. Currently there are salad greens and basil ready to be harvested!

We ask that you please take a respectful amount and harvest correctly to ensure continued growth throughout the summer. Please email projects@troutriverec.ca if you would like any additional information on the TREC Community Garden, or would like to be involved in any way. We are hoping to expand this project in future years and volunteer help would be appreciated! If you would like to leave a donation, please e-transfer to troutriverec@gmail.com .

We would like to thank the Island Community Food Security Initiative for partially funding this project, and the Stanley Bridge Women’s Institute for donating soil to the garden!
