The TREC Annual Tree Drive is Friday, July 11th from 3-6pm at the TREC office, 575 Taylor Road, North Granville, PEI C0A 1E0.

 Come by our Tree Drive, donate, take home native trees and shrubs along with planting guides, and renew your TREC Annual Membership with donations $20 and over. 

The money raised from this Tree Drive is integral to the work TREC conducts enhancing the ecological integrity of the watershed. Come out and show your support, July 11th, from 3-6pm at the TREC office, 575 Taylor Road, North Granville.

The event will be held Saturday June 14th, from 11am to 3pm, outside of Carr’s Oyster Bar, 32 Campbellton Rd in Stanley Bridge.

The event will include environmental groups as exhibitors and presenters with a focus on education surrounding watercourses, as well as artists, crafters and fun activities for all! Come out and see educational displays of native and exotic wildlife inside Carr’s Wildlife Centre with a focus on conservation, this event gains you free access to the museum for the day!

Guests will also have the opportunity to go out on the water via kayak tours of Stanley River! Bring your own kayak or use one that we provide, TREC will be your guide! TREC would like to thank Innovation PEI’s Community Celebration Fund for supporting this event, as well as Carr’s Oyster Bar for the grounds!

With support from the PEI Wildlife Conservation Fund and Raspberry Point Oysters, TREC has been working to support Osprey populations in our watershed. We have done this by installing an Osprey perch along Hope River at Raspberry Point Oyster Co. Tours. This new perch will support Osprey populations by providing safe nesting habitat. 

Providing these man-made perches can also dissuade Ospreys from making their nests on electrical poles with live transformers and wires that can be dangerous for the birds and potentially cause power outages.

As part of this project, TREC created an informational brochure which will be given out on Raspberry Point Oysters boat tours at the location of the perch.  TREC is Hosting our Annual Fall Volunteer Tree Planting Day Saturday, October 5th 

Volunteers will meet at the Trout River Environmental Committee office located at 575 Taylor Road, North Granville, PE, C0A 1E0 for 9am and travel together to the tree planting location on the Princetown rd.

The tree planting site that has been chosen is an old farm field with a small number of trees and shrubs growing in the area. We hope to add more trees, shrubs and pollinator plants to this site in order to improve habitat for wildlife above Granville Creek.

 The site is easily accessible with a wide trail, allowing for all age ranges to be able to attend this event. 

In total TREC plans to plant around 150 trees, plants, and shrubs within the area which will consist of:

• 45 Milkweed
• 12 Spikenard
• 24 Red Maple
• 12 White Birch
• 12 Red Pine
• 6 Eastern Larch
• 6 Eastern White Cedar
• 12 Willow
• 12 Spirea
• 6 Bayberry

Volunteers are encouraged to wear proper footwear and bring their own pair of gloves, if you do not have gloves TREC will provide them.

 Coffee and snacks will also be provided on site!
