Trout River Environmental Committee is hosting our 3rd Annual Tree Drive on July 8th from 2pm-6pm and July 9th from 9am to 1pm. Drop by the North Granville Community Center on 575 Taylor rd. for a variety of trees and shrubs such as sugar maple, red oak, white pine, wild spirea, bayberry, white spruce, hemlock and more!Donations to Trout River Environmental Committee are welcome! TREC has been busy planting trees! We are focusing on riparian areas with little canopy cover over streams. Canopy cover helps keep stream temperatures low and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Trout River Environmental Committee
Last week TREC and other watershed groups attended a Rapid Geomorphic Assessment course with 5R Environmental Consulting Inc. In this course we learned about stream assessment methods that will help us to understand what a stream is doing, what it needs, and how we can work to restore it. Last week the great weather allowed us to complete headwater surveys in all our river systems. We measure the uppermost place that we can see flowing water, and we do the same again in the fall.
