Thanks to everyone who came to Riverbank Heritage Day, we were pleased to see so many first-time kayakers on the water for our guided river tours. Thanks to all our exhibitors and speakers who made it such an interesting afternoon.

TREC would like to invite you to attend Riverbank Heritage Day, celebrating Canadian Rivers Day. The event will be held June 12th, from 12pm to 6pm, outside of Carr’s Oyster Bar in Stanley Bridge.

NEW: CLAY MOULD MASK-MAKING! Discover how to sculpt beautiful shapes out of river clay and take home your very own mask. Sharing their extensive knowledge in puppetry and scenography, River Clyde Pageant artists will be leading participants through a time-honoured crafting technique that is used by puppeteers around the world. Registration is required. Ages 8 and up.

CLAY MOULD MASK-MAKING, 12pm – 1pm:

SONG SHARE, 1pm-1:30pm:
Share your voice with us and learn some new melodies in an informal, open song circle. Open to all experience levels. No registration required.

The event is free or by donation, with all proceeds going to event organization, and watershed groups on the Island.

Riverbank Heritage Day

Riverbank Heritage Day – celebrating Canadian Rivers Day in Stanley Bridge

Riverbank Heritage Day is a celebration of the cultural and ecological significance of rivers on PEI, highlighting education, conservation and restoration, history of rivers on PEI, arts inspired by rivers and watercourses and local food.

The event will include environmental groups as exhibitors and presenters with a focus on education surrounding rivers. Visual and performing arts inspired by rivers and watercourses such as crafters, performers, music, as well as story tellers who wish to tell stories of PEI rivers. We will also be holding kayak tours of Stanley River.

The event is on Sunday June 12th from noon to 6pm, at Carr’s Oyster Bar, 32 Campbellton Road, which is just by Stanley Bridge Marina on Route 6.

The event will be free or by donation, with all proceeds going to event organization, and watershed groups on the Island.

Woodlot Tour a great success

The 2022 Winter Woodlot Tour was amazing. We had over 600 visitors to see the 16 exhibits, plus free sleigh rides and hot cider. Many thanks to all the exhibitors, and to the Wildlife Conservation Fund for providing the funds for our event. The Winter Woodlot Tour was organized by Trout River Environmental Committee, Wheatley River Improvement Group, Hunter-Clyde Watershed Group, and Central Queens Wildlife Federation.

Winter Woodlot Tour – Feb 5th

Join us on Saturday February 5th, from 9am to 1pm, for the 2022 Winter Woodlot Tour. The storm date is February 19th. The Woodlot Tour is a family friendly event, with numerous exhibits showing how to make the most of your woodlot, and improve its value to wildlife. There will be snowshoes to try on our snowshoe trail, maple syrup tapping, woodland crafts, forestry information, displays of woodland wildlife, chainsaw advice, nature walks, free hot cider, a warming tent and, pandemic rules permitting, free sleigh rides. The event is funded by the Wildlife Conservation Fund, and hosted by four watershed groups including TREC. The event will be signed off Route 2 in Pleasant Valley, just up Millvale Road. Please be aware that a Vax Pass and ID will be required.
